Celebrate National Volunteer Week with your fellow Mensans! Mensans across the U.S. will work to build a stronger community through “Mensa Cares,” a new community service event on April 29.

OC Mensa is joining with Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa (GLAAM) to work at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, 1734 E. 41st Street, Los Angeles 90058, for a morning of sorting donated food items. All Mensa members ages 14 and up and invited friends/family are encouraged to participate.

To volunteer, sign up online at

(OR search GLAAM under Volunteer Groups). When it asks for a password, use GLAAM429. Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive an email confirmation with information about appropriate attire and other logistics, as well as a waiver you’ll sign and bring with you. The number who can participate in the Mensa group is limited, so sign up early (but don’t sign up unless you are serious about attending). Be sure to come a little ahead of 8:30 AM to check in and find our group.

Optional: Order a $10 Mensa Cares! t-shirt. If you commit to attending you may order a Mensa Cares! t-shirt. To order a t-shirt in your size (S – 6XL), contact Desiree Elliott by April 5 at 626-329-3979 or In addition to your name and size, indicate the fact that you are an OCM member. T-shirts will be distributed and the $10 payment will be collected at the event.

Questions: If you have questions the food bank’s website does not answer, contact Jennifer Carter at (323) 919-1172 or
