President
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
The President is:
- The chief point of contact & communication between AML and OC Mensa.
- The official representative of OC Mensa with groups or individuals outside of OC Mensa.
Duties
- Schedule and chair Board Meetings.
- Work with the 1st and 2nd Vice President and Communications Officer to seek candidates for the chairs of all committees as necessary.
- Usually writes a monthly column for the Oracle.
First Vice President
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
Duties
- Attend Board Meetings as a voting member.
- Be the liaison to those committees and appointed officers designated by the Board.
- Before each Board Meeting, solicit reports from committee chairs (can be handled quickly by e-mail), and report to the Board on activities of interest for those chairs who are not themselves at the Board Meeting;
- Communicate to the appropriate committee chair any Board decisions that may affect the committee.
- Work with the President to seek a committee chair if the position is vacant;
- Coordinate continuing the work of a committee if the chair position is vacant.
- Assume the duties of the President in that person’s absence.
- Become the President if that office becomes vacant.
Second Vice President
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
Duties
- Attend Board Meetings as a voting member.
- Be the liaison to those committees and appointed officers designated by the Board.
- Before each Board Meeting, solicit reports from committee chairs (can be handled quickly by e-mail), and report to the Board on activities of interest for those chairs who are not themselves at the Board Meeting;
- Communicate to the appropriate committee chair any Board decisions that may affect the committee.
- Work with the President to seek a chair for any committee if the position is vacant.
- Coordinate continuing the work of a committee if the chair position is vacant.
Treasurer
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
Duties
- Attend Board Meetings as a voting member.
- Do the banking for OC Mensa – write checks, deposit income, file receipts and keep financial records.
- Issue financial statements (Balance Sheet and Revenue & Expense Statement) for each Board Meeting and also submit 6-month financial statements to the Oracle twice a year.
- Coordinate the sign-in table at Open Houses.
- Maintain an inventory of all assets owned by OC Mensa.
- Submit year-end financial report as required by American Mensa Ltd.
- Coordinate with OCM Financial Review Chair for a year-end review of all financial records.
Secretary
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
Duties
- Attend Board Meetings as a voting member.
- Take the minutes at Board Meetings.
- Write the text of full minutes for approval by other Board Members, as well as a condensed version (“mini-minutes”) for publication in the Oracle.
- Maintain the Standing Orders.
Communications Officer
Requirement
Must be a member in good standing of OC Mensa and American Mensa Ltd.
Term of Office
April 1 – March 31
Duties
- Attend Board Meetings as a voting member.
- Be the liaison to the Oracle Editor and Webmaster and/or Web Content Editor and any other positions created for the printed and electronic dissemination of news and general information to the OC Mensa membership.
- Before each Board Meeting, solicit reports from the Editor and Webmaster/Web Content Editor (can be handled quickly by e-mail), and report to the Board on activities of interest for those chairs who are not themselves at the Board Meeting;
- Communicate to the Editor or Webmaster/Web Content Editor any Board decisions or information from American Mensa Ltd. that may need to be communicated to the membership via the Oracle or website.
- Work with the President to seek an Editor or Webmaster or Web Content Editor if the position becomes vacant.
- Coordinate continuing the work of the Editor or Webmaster or Web Content Editor if the position is vacant.
